PM System

The forum has a Private Messaging system accessible through your Control Panel. The PM system is generally preferable when contacting their leadership and other members, so you should probably get a basic handle on how the Private Message system works.

• Friends/Block List: If there is someone you contact frequently (e.g., one of your leaders) you may want to add them to this list. If there is someone you wish to block from private messaging you, you may also add them to this list (and make sure to hit "No" on the drop-down menu to the right). If a member is harassing you via PM or sending advertisements via PM, please let one of the staff members know so the issue can be dealt with.
• Message Tracker: By default, all outgoing PMs you send will be tracked, though you can uncheck the corresponding box when sending PMs if you don't want to track them. If the outgoing PM has been tracked, you can see whether a sent PM has been read yet—scroll to the bottom of the message tracker page. If it hasn't yet moved from unread to read status, your PM hasn't been opened yet. If the PM hasn't been read yet, you can delete the message from your tracker -- this effectively deletes the PM out of the system so it will never arrive for its recipient. So if you send a PM and change your mind or accidentally send a PM to the wrong person, you can delete it before the other person reads it. Please note, they may get a "blank notification" of the message even if you delete it—that is, their message indicator will tell them they have 1 message and if they enable the PM pop-up, they will see that (but without a subject or a sender). It's like getting a PM from a ghost, sort of!
• Virtual Directories: If you receive a lot of PMs relevant to different issues, you may wish to save them. Conversely, "junk PMs" or conversation PMs can be deleted as necessary if you move them to their own folder. Virtual directories are a great way to keep track of your messages. Though members have a relatively high limit when it comes to PMs; we'd appreciate it if you deleted old, unneeded PMs regularly. :)
• Archives: You can download any private messages you wish and either email them to youself or save them in an Excel file.

Other Features

Forum Skins

The board has a variety of different forum skins you can choose from. Many of these skins are themed around seasons or holidays, so you can choose one based on that or just if you're bored with the one you're currently using! Please note that when a new default skin is introduced to the board, all users are automatically upgraded to that skin regardless of their prior skin choice. You can always swap back though!

Notepad

In your Control Panel, there is a notepad feature. You can save plot notes, post snippets, table codes -- pretty much anything you'd like to save. While it's not an incredibly useful feature, for those of us with a more scattered mind it can be a lifesafer.
